What is a Convivência?
Convivência translates from Portuguese to English as essentially "living together". However, it's much more than that.
This may be a different kind of capoeira event than you are used to. We are not having a set schedule of this happening then and that happening now. Instead, we get together with Mestre Esquilo and then a whole lot of capoeira happens. There will be workshops. There will be rodas. There will be music. It will be dynamic, intuitive, and spontaneous. So come to immerse yourself in capoeira and what Mestre Esquilo will have to share with us which will be more than you can probably imagine.
This event is open to any and all that want to come, so let's make it a great time together!
Where do we stay?
The event will be held in the beautiful Joshua Tree desert, and the weather is usually great this time of year.
That having been said, the desert is, by nature, unpredictable and extreme. Temperatures for April historically have ranged from the 40s at night up to 100 during the day. The average daily range is mid-50s to the high 70s/low 80s.
Accommodation options included in the Convivência price (some subject to limited space):
House camping - You'll have same-sex roomies. (bring sleeping bag + air mattress)
Tent camping - Five acres, billions of stars.
Car camping - Plenty of parking.
Camper bed - Groovy camper sleeps 2 - good for a couple
A word about bathroom facilities on site:
There are 2 indoor restroom facilities with toilets and showers. We will also have porta-johns and an outdoor shower facility. All will be shared.
Alternatives not included in the Convivência price 10-20 minutes away in Joshua Tree or Yucca Valley:
